Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your mobile phone number (required, used for one-time-code sign-in), and optionally an email address and a username/password as a second way to sign in.
• Identity verification: a photograph of your National Identity Card (NIC), Passport, or Driver's Licence, and a live selfie taken during onboarding.
• Profile information: your name, date of birth, location, photos, partner preferences, the "about you" text you write, and — if you provide it — horoscope details (birth time/place, rasi, nakshatra, lagnam, gothra).
• Activity information: interests you send or receive, messages you exchange with other members, and any reports you file or that are filed about you.
• Billing information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.
• Technical information: standard request logs (IP address, browser type) kept briefly for security, abuse prevention, and rate-limiting.

2. How we use your information

• To verify that you are a real person before your profile is shown to anyone else — your ID and selfie are compared side by side by a human reviewer.
• To operate core features: browsing, sending/receiving interest, messaging, and your profile page.
• To calculate an optional AI compatibility score (Premium plan only). A limited subset of profile fields is sent to our AI processing provider (Groq) solely to compute that score; it is not used to build a public profile of you elsewhere.
• To send one-time sign-in codes and account/security notifications by SMS and email.
• To process subscription payments through Stripe.
• To enforce our Terms of Service and investigate reports of abuse, harassment, or fake profiles.

3. Photo protection

Photos you upload are watermarked and have location/device metadata (EXIF) stripped before they are stored. On-screen protections that discourage right-click saving or dragging are a deterrent, not an absolute guarantee — as with anything shown on a screen, treat it as ultimately shareable.

4. Who can see what

Your phone number is never shown to other members, under any circumstance. Your photos and any contact happen only once both sides have mutually expressed interest, and even then contact happens through in-app messaging, not by revealing your phone number. Your government ID photo and selfie are visible only to our verification team — never to other members.

5. Data retention and deletion

To limit how long we hold sensitive information, profiles are automatically and permanently deleted six months after account creation, whether or not you are still using TrivianKnot. You consent to this at signup and receive a reminder before it happens. You can also delete your account earlier at any time from Settings, or by contacting us.

6. Vendor advertising

Wedding-related businesses (photographers, venues, jewellers, and similar) may appear as sponsored placements on the browse page, a profile page, or the homepage. These placements are not personalized using your profile data, and we do not share your personal information with advertising vendors.

7. Where your data is stored

Profile data is stored in a managed Postgres database (Supabase); photos are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage. Both are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted to authorized personnel only.

8. Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or delete your account, at any time. Contact us using the details below.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and notify you by email or in-app before the changes take effect.
